SIPS Awards.
The Society for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies members nominate scientists every two years for their significant contributions to research, outstanding achievements and/or clinical work. Please find more information on the awards and award winners of previous SIPS conferences below.
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award honors outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to research on the placebo effect, with the recipient invited to give a lecture at the SIPS conference.
Early Career Award
This award honors outstanding research achievements by researchers within 3-7 years of the PhD including basic (e.g. animal, molecular, healthy participant) and clinical (e.g. patient-based translational) research. The call for nominations includes the full spectrum of work on placebo and nocebo effects, including humanities and social science.
Best Oral Presentation Award
Awarded to young scientists judged to give best presentations of their original research during the Oral Presentation sessions at the Conference.
Best Poster Presentation Award
Awarded to scientists judged to give the best poster presentations during the Conference’s poster sessions.
2025
SIPS Award Winners
The Early Career Awards were presented to Stefanie Meeuwis (Tilburg University / Leiden University) and Aleksandrina Skvortsova (Leiden University), in recognition of their promising contributions to the field.
The prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Professor Paul Enck (Tübingen University), honoring his decades-long impact on placebo research.

SIPS Award Winners
The Early Career Awards were presented to Kaya Peerdeman (Leiden University) and Cosima Locher (University of Zürich), in recognition of their promising contributions to the field.
The prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Professor Irving Kirsch (Harvard Medical School) and to Fabrizio Benedetti (University of Turin Medical School), honoring their decades-long impact on placebo research.
The Poster Awards where awarded to Ann-Katrin Meyrose (Helmut-Schmidt-University) and to Katia Mattarozzi (University of Bologna).
